Travel Vacation Secrets For A Healthy Cruise

If you are about to take your first trip on a cruise, then the best thing to do is to heed the advice of seasoned cruise travelers, and learn from their experiences. You may well still have things go wrong on your travels, but these will only add to the memorability of your experiences.

One good travel vacation secret is to check, before you even start thinking about what to pack for your cruise, what vaccinations you are going to need. Your cruise line should have this information.

If you do have to see your doctor for some shots, check while you are there for any tips about avoiding colds and flu before you leave. You don't want to get sick, or it could spoil your vacation or even cause you not to be able to go. It is also a good idea to ask about remedies for seasickness, some of which are only available on prescription.

You should also take the opportunity to renew supplies of prescription medications, to ensure you don't run out of these whilst you are away. Insurance companies will often allow you to refill your prescriptions early if you are going to be away and unable to get to a pharmacy. You should get your doctor to give you a letter on their surgery letterhead which states what prescriptions you have and that they were prescribed for you legitimately. This letter could save you having to be detained at customs whilst your medications are being inspected.

Another vacation travel secret for cruise trips is to let your cruise line know of any special diet you are on. They can usually cater for these quite easily, but it is worth being sure in advance that this is so, and to check with them again a few weeks before departure, going over reservation details and dietary requirements.

A first aid kit would be a good item to pack in your luggage, in case of emergencies. Diarhea medication and antacids are advisable in case of digestive upsets, which often occur when you are away. Aloe vera gel is a good idea for sunburn, as well as antibiotic cream and aspirins.

You should also pack lip balm, moisturizer and sunscreen. It is easy to forget sunscreen when you are out there enjoying yourself, so be sure to put it on before you go out, and keep skin soft with lip balm and moisturizer. Temperature changes, such as between outside heat and inside air conditioning, can really dry your skin out.

You should also protect yourself with sunglasses and a hat. The reflected light from the water, when you are out on deck, can be very bright, and you need the sunglasses to prevent your eyes from damage by the UV rays. A hat protects your face and ears from sunburn, for added protection, especially of often forgotten spots when it comes to sunscreen.

So remember these travel vacation secrets if you are going on a cruise, so you can stay healthy and have an enjoyable time.
